SBC Visakhapatnam Group C Recruitment 2026
Ship Building Centre, Visakhapatnam has announced 9 vacancies for General Central Service Group C positions under the Ministry of Defence (R&D). The recruitment covers Construction Assistant A in Fitter trade, Construction Handler in Electrician trade, Fire Engine Driver and Civilian Motor Transport Driver. Vacancy Details

Eligibility
For Construction Assistant A, candidates need Class 10th qualification, ITI or National Apprentice Certificate in Fitter trade and two years of relevant experience. Construction Handler requires Class 10th and an ITI certificate in Electrician trade. Fire Engine Driver requires Class 10th, a valid Heavy Motor Vehicle licence, motor mechanism knowledge, three years of heavy vehicle driving experience and physical fitness. Civilian Motor Transport Driver requires Class 10th, a valid Motor Car or Light Motor Vehicle licence, motor mechanism knowledge and three years of driving experience. A heavy vehicle licence is desirable for the latter post.
Age Limit
The prescribed age range is 18 to 27 years as on 14 September 2026. Applicable relaxation is available for eligible reserved categories, PwBD candidates and departmental Central Government employees according to the relevant government rules.
Application Fee
General, OBC and EWS candidates are required to pay Rs. 350. SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempt from the fee. Female candidates of all categories are also exempt. The examination fee can be paid online through Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card or UPI.
Selection Process
The selection process consists of a Computer Based Test followed by applicable endurance or skill testing for driver posts, document verification and medical examination. The driver-related physical assessment is qualifying in nature. Computer Based Test
For Construction Assistant A and Construction Handler, the CBT contains 100 questions to be completed in 120 minutes. The paper consists of General Intelligence, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and Trade Syllabus, carrying 20, 20, 20 and 40 questions respectively. For Fire Engine Driver and Civilian Motor Transport Driver, the CBT also contains 100 questions with a 120-minute duration, divided into General Intelligence, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and General English, with 25 questions in each section.
The minimum qualifying requirement is 35% for UR candidates, 30% for OBC candidates and 25% for other reserved categories. The Fire Engine Driver endurance assessment includes carrying sand and water buckets for 100 metres in 45 seconds, 20 squats, 15 push-ups and 15 bent-knee sit-ups.
