ONGC Graduate Trainee Admit Card 2026

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited has released the admit card for its E1 Level recruitment process under Advertisement No. 2/2026 (R&P). The recruitment covers 52 vacancies for engineering and geology professionals in Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical, Instrumentation and Geology streams. Candidates who successfully submitted their applications can use the issued admit card for appearing in the Computer Based Test scheduled tentatively for 6 September 2026.

ONGC Recruitment 2026 Vacancy Details

The recruitment provides opportunities at E1 level across five disciplines. Petroleum Engineering has 9 vacancies, Mechanical Engineering has 27 vacancies, Chemical Engineering has 10 vacancies, Instrumentation Engineering has 2 vacancies and the Geology stream has 4 vacancies. Together, these posts account for 52 openings. The category-wise distribution mentioned in the recruitment details is 24 posts for UR, 12 for OBC, 9 for SC, 2 for ST and 5 for EWS candidates.

Educational Qualification

For the engineering disciplines, applicants are required to possess the relevant graduate engineering qualification with at least 60% marks. Petroleum Engineering candidates need a degree in Petroleum Engineering or Applied Petroleum Engineering. Mechanical Engineering applicants require a Mechanical Engineering degree, while Chemical Engineering candidates need a relevant Chemical Engineering degree. The recruitment specifically states that a B.E. or B.Tech qualification in Chemical Sciences and Technology is not acceptable for the Chemical Engineering stream. Instrumentation applicants need a degree in Instrumentation Engineering.

For the Geology stream, eligible qualifications include a postgraduate degree in Geology or specified postgraduate qualifications in Petroleum Geoscience, Petroleum Geology or Geological Technology. Candidates must have acquired the required regular qualification by the application closing date. Distance-mode qualifications are considered only where they are recognized by the applicable statutory authorities.

Age Limit

The maximum age for the engineering streams is 26 years for UR/EWS candidates, 29 years for OBC candidates and 31 years for SC/ST candidates. For Geology, the corresponding limits are 27, 30 and 32 years. PwBD candidates in the UR/EWS category have a maximum age of 36 years for engineering and 37 years for Geology. The applicable age is calculated as on 31 July 2026.

CBT Exam Pattern

The selection process begins with a Computer Based Test carrying 85 questions to be completed within 2 hours. The test contains 40 questions from the concerned technical or geology domain, 10 questions on General Awareness, 25 questions from Aptitude and 10 questions on English Language. The recruitment information specifies that there is no negative marking in the CBT. Candidates should therefore prepare both their discipline-specific concepts and the general sections within the prescribed time.

Selection Process and Weightage

Selection is based on the CBT followed by a Personal Interview for shortlisted candidates. The final assessment is calculated out of 100 marks, with 85% weightage assigned to the CBT and 15% to the interview. Candidates are shortlisted for the interview in a 1:5 ratio on the basis of CBT performance. The minimum qualifying requirement in the CBT is 45% for General, EWS and OBC candidates and 40% for SC, ST and PwBD candidates. For the interview component, the qualifying requirement is 60% for General, EWS and OBC candidates and 40% for SC, ST and PwBD candidates.

Application Fee

General, OBC and EWS applicants were required to pay a registration fee of Rs. 1,000, apart from applicable convenience charges, bank commission and GST. SC, ST and PwBD candidates were exempted from the registration fee. The application process was conducted online from 17 July 2026 to 31 July 2026.

ONGC Admit Card and Exam Date

The admit card was made available on 22 August 2026. The Computer Based Test is scheduled tentatively for 6 September 2026. Candidates should carefully check the examination centre, reporting instructions, candidate details and other instructions printed on the admit card before travelling to the venue. The listed examination cities include Delhi NCR, Kolkata, Mumbai region, Chennai, Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Jaipur, Udaipur, Mohali, Nagpur, Bhopal, Bengaluru, Ernakulam, Raipur, Surat, Lucknow, Visakhapatnam and Bhubaneswar.

Pay Scale

The notified E1 level pay scale is Rs. 60,000 to Rs. 1,80,000. The recruitment information also indicates an approximate annual CTC of Rs. 26 lakh for the Petroleum Engineering position. Actual compensation and applicable benefits are governed by the organization's service rules and the relevant recruitment terms.

Applicants should carry the admit card along with the required identity proof and follow all examination-centre instructions.
